Detailed Instructions for Use
Step 1: Cutting the Carrier Tapes
Utilize the appropriate cutting tool (GSMTL20, GSMTL30, or GSMTL40) to accurately cut the carrier tapes. Precision in this step is crucial to ensure a clean and straight cut, which is essential for a reliable joint.
Step 2: Preparing the Splice Clip
Place a splice clip, with the teeth facing up, on the placement pins of the splice tool. Ensuring the clip is correctly positioned is vital for a secure connection.
Step 3: Positioning the Carrier Tapes
Center both carrier tapes on the placement pins, with the cover tape facing up. Secure the tapes using the clamps provided on the splice tool. Proper alignment of the tapes is critical to ensure a seamless joint.
Step 4: Crimping the Handle
Crimp the handle of the splice tool to connect the carrier tapes. This action should be performed with care to ensure that the tapes are firmly joined without damaging the components.
Step 5: Removing the Release Liner
Carefully remove the release liner from the splice tape to expose the adhesive side. Handling the tape gently is important to avoid any contamination or damage to the adhesive surface.
Step 6: Applying the Splice Tape
Add a single strip of the splice tape to the cover tape, pressing firmly to secure the joint. Ensuring that the tape is applied evenly and without wrinkles is essential for a reliable splice.
